After much consideration and thought, it was agreed upon my the Board of Directors, that Kaufman County ARES needs to have it's own repeater for operation within the county. Though we have been granted access to 2 repeaters in different locations of the county, we realized that we had to have our own machine in place to really be able to assist the county and those that we serve.
We have the coordination of a frequency pair to use for our repeater. The frequency that we have been granted is the following, 146.840 (transmit)/146.240 (receive). This repeater is going to be located east of the city of Kaufman towards the center of the county to provide better coverage of the entire county and our ARES operations.
We are in need of assistance in getting this repeater online and operational. The original plan was to purchase the repeater that had been setup for the above listed frequencies, but to many parts were needed to make the system run and be useable by us. It was determined that we needed to establish a repeater system of our own and obtain our own equipment. In our search for a system, we have been quoted prices range from $3000.00 to $5500.00 and so we are seeking donations to obtain a system that will meet our needs.
We currently have $100.00 raised in our repeater fund and need your assistance in raising the rest. You can make a donation using various methods and 100% of the funds earmarked for the repeater will go to its development and operation. If you would like to start helping out right away, just choose your donation option below or use the donation box on the right of the page.
