It's official, the KE5KBY 146.840 repeater is now on the air. We are excited to share this news with members of Kaufman County ARES, Inc., amateur radio operators in the county and those that will travel through here. While this is great news, we are still working on the repeater. This is now a working project that can be used.
We would like to thank Charles Mumphrey KC5OZH for the use of a "loaner" repeater system. This system is running on our coordinated frequency pair of 146.840 TX / 146.240 RX and used a PL tone of 136.5 hz. The repeater is currently made up of a motorola repater unit sending our 40 watts, a 4 can duplexer and antenna. This is currently 60 watts less than we have been coordinated for and one of the issues that we are working to resolve.

Coverage from this repeater is good in Seagoville, Crandall, Kaufman, Forney, Balch Springs and Dallas depending on where you are transmitting from. We are still working out a couple of bugs in this system to get it up to steam as is, until we are able to get our own equipment on the air.
This repeater has been a much need and sought after item for Kaufman County ARES since the beginning. It gives us a system that we can use during different ARES activities. We have asked members in the past to help and some have and we would like to thank those members that have helped in our efforts. We still continue to move forward in getting our own equipment up and in place where we need it to be so that we provide repeater coverage throughout the county.
We are still accepting donation in support and development of the permanement repeater system. You can make a donation online today using your credit card or checking account. To make a donation, just use the following donation button, which will take you to our secure Repeater Donation page. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
Your donation can be one time or you can request to make a donation on a regular basis to assist with this repeater. For those that make a donation is towards this system, we will include your name on our website, our sponsors website and on a future plague to be included in the repeaters location or office area.
Our current project budget to raise is $4500. This is what is needed to get the complete system that we have been setup for and for beginning use. Some of the funds will be used to establish electrical power connections and other requirements to ge tthe repeater up. Be sure to check back often to see our progress on this repeater fund.
In the future, we will provide more detailed information about the repeater, within reason, and get more pictures and such on the websites. This repeater system has its own website, located at KE5KBY.us, which will also include details on any new repeaters that we establish in our operational area.
